Travel information to Nelson

Nelson airport is the fourth busiest airport in New Zealand and is mainly service by New Zealands national carrier, Air New Zealand. There is also a smaller airline called Air-2-there which has services from Wellington. A number of light plane and helicopter companies also operate from the busy regional airport. Nelson Lakes also has an airstrip at St Arnaud where scenic flights can land.

By Sea

The ferry will bring you from Wellington to Picton to which you can catch a connecting bus service to audecious Nelson. The other option is to collect a car rental or campervan and drive the beautiful Queen Charlotte drive from Picton through Havelock to Nelson.

Once you arrive with any of these options you must explore Nelson and the surrouding regins of Nelson Lakes, the Abel Tasman, and Golden. Do this by either the regular bus connections, or pick up a car rental or Campervan from on of our local rental companies. You can even keep it and use it to discover the rest of the South Island.

By road

Nelson is a very popular destination on any road trip by car rental, campervan, or bus connection. It allows for easy travel by these options. Good roads connect Nelson to the West Coast, Blenheim and Christchurch. Travel through the middle via Murchison or follow the coast via Kaikoura. Either way you will see some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. Nelson Tasman Region is well serviced by coaches operating into and around the region.
